Joystock is an inventory app for people who buy, sell and collect video games. This page explains what we store, why, who helps us run the app, and how you can get a copy of your data or delete it. The short version: your data is yours, we never sell it, and we don't show ads.
Who we are
Joystock is made in Toronto, Canada, and used by sellers in Canada, the United States and beyond. For anything about your privacy, email hello@joystock.gg. Wherever you live, you get the same promises and the same choices on this page.
What we store
- Your account: your name, email, and your password (stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody, including us, can read it). We also record when you agreed to these terms and when you were last active.
- Face ID / Touch ID sign-in (if you turn it on): your device keeps the key and checks your face or fingerprint itself. We only store the public half of that key, which can't be used to sign in, plus the device's name and when it was last used. Your face and fingerprints never reach us.
- What you put in the app: your games and hardware, what you paid, prices, sales, fees, shipping, expenses and trips, lots, vendor events, schedules, settings, your store name and logo, and photos you upload.
- Your eBay connection, if you choose to connect: a sign-in token from eBay (kept on our server, never in your browser), and your store information from eBay, such as your listings, orders, fees and payouts. We ask eBay for permission to read that information and to create, update and end listings for you. Joystock only changes your eBay listings when you tell it to, for example when you publish a game or schedule a listing.
- Problem reports you send: your message, what you tapped on screen, which page you were on, your device and browser, recent app errors, and a screenshot if you add one.
- The waitlist: if you ask for an invite on joystock.gg, your email, name and any note you add.
- Security records: your network address, briefly, to limit repeated sign-in attempts. It isn't kept with your account.
What we use it for
Only to run Joystock for you: to show your collection, work out prices and profit, schedule listings, connect to eBay when you ask it to, answer your reports, and keep your account secure. We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or use tracking cookies. Your own sales and costs are never shown to other sellers. One exception, to make prices more accurate for everyone: when one of your games sells, we use only its title, platform, condition, sale price and date (never your name, store, buyer or listing), combined with other sellers' sales, and a price built this way only shows once enough different sellers are behind it.
How prices are worked out. Joystock's prices come from our own pricing model, which combines real eBay sold listings with the sales sellers record on Joystock. Your sales are anonymized and combined with everyone else's before they count toward an average. Nobody else ever sees an individual sale of yours, what you paid, or who you are.
Who helps us run Joystock
A few companies process data for us, only to provide the service:
- Fly.io hosts the app and its database, in Toronto.
- Cloudflare runs our domain and stores the photos you upload.
- Anthropic reads photos and typed lists when you use AI reading in Price check or Add games. Only the photo or text you send is shared, never your account details. Anthropic's commercial terms don't allow it to train its models on this data. You can turn AI reading off in Settings.
- eBay, when you connect your store, under eBay's own privacy notice.
- SoldComps and IGDB provide sold prices and game names. We send them game titles to look up, never anything about you.
Some of these companies may process data outside the country you live in, where it's covered by that country's laws.
Cookies and browser storage
We use one cookie to keep you signed in. The app also remembers small preferences on your device, such as light or dark mode. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. If you close your account, it's held for 30 days in case you change your mind, then deleted for good, including your photos and your eBay connection. Encrypted backups of the database are kept for up to 30 days more before they roll off.
Your choices and rights
- Get a copy: Settings → Your data → Download all my data.
- Fix something: edit it in the app, or email us.
- Delete it: Settings → Your data → Close my account.
- Stop AI reading: Settings → Photo and list reading.
- Disconnect eBay at any time in Settings, or from your eBay account.
If you're not happy with how we handled something, email us first. You can also contact the privacy authority where you live.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and every account's data is kept separate, so no seller can see another's. No system is perfect, though. If we ever learn that your data was exposed, we'll tell you, and any authority the law requires us to tell.
Age
Joystock is for people 18 and older.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
